Hollyoaks: What happened between Pete and Brendan?

Pete and Brendan went on a camping trip and Brendan tried it on with Pete, when Pete knocked him back he over-reacted at the situation, Brendan got drunk, got in a car and before he could drive off Pete got in too, as they were driving Brendan was aiming straight for a lorry to try kill himself and Pete grabbed hold of the wheel and swirved but they ended up crashing anyway, thus leaving Pete's legs paralysed.
