I am scared to death! pls help!!?

Ok so I want to get on birth control since I will be getting married soon and having sex, but I heard that you have to get a pap smer test before they will give you birth control. Why do you have to (I think it stupid)? Does it hurt? How long does it last? My fianc� says he doesn't want me to get one cause it will tear my hymen (I'm a virgin) will it? Do you have to get one if you go to planned parenthood? What do they do during a pap test? Please help me!!
